Instructions
Whole Wheat Oat Crust
- Place flour, oats, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in the butter until the pieces are the size of a pea.
- Stir the water into the mixture until a ball forms. (add more water as necessary).
- Divide the dough in half and wrap in plastic. Place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to chill.
- When done, on a floured surface roll each dough ball to an 11' round circle.
Filling and Pie
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- In a bowl, mix all of the filling ingredients together except the butter. Set aside.
- Place one of the pie crusts in your dish and top with the filling.
- Sprinkle cubed butter on top.
- Cover with the second crust and pinch around the edges to seal. Make a couple of slits in the top to allow the steam to vent.
- Brush the top crust with melted butter and bake for roughly 40-50 minutes.
